# CC03 Chrondus Crispus (Carrageenan)

I am trying a new attempt this time that includes soaking the seaweed in hot water beforehand. I want to make the most homogenous mixture I can before cooking.

Ingredients:

1. Water (75 mL)
2. Whole leaf dried Chrondus crispus (2g)

Procedure:

1. Soak the seaweed in just below boiling water for 1 and 3/4 hours. Make sure that no heat is applied to the seaweed after the initial heat burst.
2. Pour the goop and the seaweed from the soaking process in a blender and blend.
3. Once the mixture is homogenous, put it into a pan or heating apparatus
4. Heat at \~100C for 7.5 minutes with the goal of evaporating water
5. Cast into a pan or use the pan as the mold.
6. Let dry for 5 days
7. Done!

Before drying:

After drying:

Results:

I would not call this bioplastic a success. It has numerous holes and is very weak.
