Agar Ag10 (5mm Leather, with Plasticizer)
Ingredients:
Water (100 mL)
Agar agar powder (4 g)
Glycerol (3 g)
Procedure:
Mix all the ingredients into a pan or pot
Heat up all the ingredients to 85-90 C on the stove
Mix thoroughly
Lower heat if bubbles are forming on the bottom of the pan
Take off heat after about 4 minutes of stirring or until the agar is fully dissolved (the solution is at least 85 C and thicker than when started)
Let dry for a few days on silicone. Remember to pour it in a thick (4.5mm) film.
Done!
Properties:
Before drying: very viscous and brown
During drying: after waiting about 7 days, it was still not dry and mold was growing on it
After drying: well, like leather I guess
Notes:
Final thickness: 1mm
This took about 14 days to dry and become leather. So I guess it worked!
The mold stopped growing on it after a while, and it seemed to die. I think it started growing because of the fact that I forgot to flip it over for a while, but this is just a thought.
