Agar Ag07 (Foam, with Plasticizer)

Read the notes first!

Ingredients:

  • Water (40 mL)

  • Agar agar powder (1 g)

  • Glycerol (2 g)

  • Dish soap (3g)

Procedure:

  • Mix all the ingredients into a pan or pot

  • Heat up all the ingredients to 85-90 C on the stove

  • Mix thoroughly

  • Lower heat if bubbles are forming on the bottom of the pan

  • Add dish soap

  • Whisk until you see it foam

  • Take off heat after about 4 minutes of stirring or until the agar is fully dissolved (the solution is at least 85 C and thicker than when started)

  • Let dry for a few days on a smooth surface. Expect extreme shrinkage.

  • Done!

Properties:

  • Before drying: not very foamy at all

  • After drying: lorem ipsum

Notes:

  • This did not foam. I will try a different dish soap next time, or more of it.
